Who you’ll be in the water with

Arriving for a week in a country you don’t know yet is a question of trust. These are the people who will meet you.

Questions we’re asked

What level do I need?

Beginner to intermediate. The groups at the camp in Assinie are kept small, so every surfer is coached at their own level, in two sessions a day with a certified instructor. The board and equipment are included.

Are transfers included?

Yes. The Abidjan airport transfer to Assinie and back is included, and so is the boat across the lagoon.

How far is the camp from Abidjan?

The camp is in Assinie-Mafia, about 80 km east of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire: around an hour and a half to two hours by road, through Grand-Bassam. The transfer from Abidjan airport and the boat across the lagoon are part of the week.

Which airport should I fly into?

Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire’s main international airport. You are met there and driven to Assinie, and back again at the end of the week.

Do you help with the visa?

Yes. We help with the visa application and send you the documents you need for it.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, reef-safe sun cream, a hat and light clothes. Boards, leashes and lycras are provided; bring your own if you prefer to surf them.

How do I pay?

In one instalment or in three, without fees. Places at the camp are limited and allocated in order of booking.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, many guests do. The groups are small and you share the week with them. Groups of three or more can contact us directly.

Does my stay support the local surf community?

Yes. Every week at the camp gives back to Surf Côte d’Ivoire, the nonprofit behind it, which has given 200+ boards to young surfers from coastal communities, runs Diaraby, the country’s first girls’ surf club, and organises the Africa Surf Tour.
