Where can you surf near Abidjan?
From Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire’s largest city, the Surf Côte d’Ivoire camp is in Assinie-Mafia, about 80 km east along the coast. The drive takes around an hour and a half to two hours, depending on traffic, through Grand-Bassam; the last stretch is a short boat crossing of the Aby lagoon. The camp runs a seven-day, six-night, all-inclusive surf week for beginners to intermediates: two coached sessions a day with a certified instructor and video analysis, boards and equipment, full board, yoga, paddleboard, sunset kayaking and an excursion to the Ehotilé Islands National Park. If you fly in, land at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ): the transfer from the airport to Assinie and back, the lagoon boat and visa assistance are included in the week. If you already live in Abidjan or are travelling on your own, taxis and private drivers make the trip every day; message the camp on WhatsApp first so the crossing is arranged.
The road from Abidjan to Assinie
Leave Abidjan by the coast road east, through Grand-Bassam, to Assinie-Mafia: about 80 km. The camp is across the lagoon, so the trip ends on a boat.
Flying into Abidjan (ABJ)
Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ) is the country’s main international airport. Camp guests are met there and driven to Assinie, and back again at the end of the week; the camp also helps with the visa application.
A week out of the city
Six nights between the lagoon and the ocean, full board, in small groups. Three room types, from €850 per person (lagoon-side superior, from four people) to €1,000 (deluxe) and €1,200 (ocean-facing premium), payable in one or three instalments without fees.
